Live VAT: this month's VAT, before the VAT return

In short

The month's VAT keeps changing until the day of the return: suppliers transmit late, your accountant classifies expenses, documents get cancelled. A number from yesterday may not hold today. On e-timologio.gr VAT is calculated live, every time you open the month, so you always know where you stand.

See exactly what you get.

How the month's VAT is calculated

The month's VAT is the VAT on your sales (output) minus the VAT on your expenses (input). If the difference is positive, you pay; if it's negative, you have a credit, carried forward to the next period or refunded.

Since 2024 the Greek VAT return is pre-filled from myDATA, and since 2025 no deviation is allowed: whatever is missing from myDATA is missing from the return. See how to find which invoices are missing from myDATA.

What you see

  • Next to every month, its VAT: to pay in red, credit in green, with an indicator that the amount is live.
  • The breakdown in one click: income VAT, expenses VAT, the difference and the time of the last update.
  • Alongside, the month's invoices from myDATA, matched automatically with your own documents: whatever is missing stands out.
  • Your accountant sees every client's VAT on the same screen. See how it works for the accounting office.

Why live and not once a month

  • Whatever a supplier transmitted this morning already counts.
  • When your accountant classifies expenses, you see it in the VAT without asking.
  • A missing invoice or a wrong amount shows in the total while there's still time to fix it.

What you gain

  • Less back and forth with your accountant: you're always informed, without calls and emails to find out where your VAT stands.
  • Plan your cash: know what you'll pay well before the deadline.

When the VAT return is filed and paid

By the last working day of the month after the period ends, monthly or quarterly. The VAT is paid in full or in two monthly instalments. Until then, the amount keeps changing.

The amount is the earliest picture you can get. The final return is your accountant's and can differ, for example because of a credit carried over from a previous period.
